Facebook Business Etiquette & Being Fat

I admit it… I am a bit out of shape… You could even say I’m fat. (Can you tell I don’t care about being politically correct?)

However, I don’t want to be reminded about it by my so called “Friends” on Facebook.

I have some friends on Facebook that are really into fitness – which is a good thing. The issue I have is that they use their personal statuses to “push” their fitness products and programs. Whether it is vitamins, nutrition bars, or workout sessions, I keep getting “hard sells” pushed at me…. It drives me crazy!

I actually like working out (even though I haven’t been to the YMCA in a couple of months – and it shows). So I don’t have anything against getting in shape. I just don’t want to be told about it on someones PERSONAL posts. That’s what a Facebook business page is for. Please, use some proper social media and Facebook etiquette.

Posting business related statuses can quickly alienate your friends and get you hidden from their feeds or unfriended. It is NOT good marketing! DON’T DO IT!

If you want to promote your business on Facebook, set up a dedicated Facebook page for your business. That way, if people are interested in your product or service, they can like your business Facebook page because the WANT to get your business posts.

Don’t shove your business in my face every time I want to see how your day is going. If I want to get in shape, I’ll look for your business Facebook page when I am ready.
